An unlicensed driver was arrested, but the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is still asking for the public's help.
The prosecutor said a woman and two children were crossing the pike near Buffalo Avenue in Egg Harbor City around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, when the driver of a GMC pickup truck allegedly struck the woman and one of the children, a 7-year-old boy.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
Police arrested 30-year-old Jorge Rodriguez. He was charged with being an unlicensed driver involved in a fatal motor crash.
The investigation is continuing, and anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
