PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities have charged four people in connection with the fatal beating of a man found dead in a trash can last week in the city’s Logan neighborhood.

Darius Cheeseboro, 22, was found in a trash can along Rockland Street last Tuesday, and sources say his murder was orchestrated by Lashawna Dantzler.

They say 24-year-old Dantzler enticed Cheeseboro to come to the Fairhill Street home she was living in on Dec. 20. There, law enforcement sources say 19-year-olds Zahmir Mason and Jordan Oliver-Williams beat the victim with pots, pans and knives.

Cheeseboro was killed.

The trio and 18-year-old Zamir Burton then disposed of the body about a block away, police say.

A young friend of Burton who was at the house recently told a school counselor about the killing.

Separately, another man was lured to the house and similarly tortured. The other man escaped and survived.

Dantzler and the two 19-year-olds are all charged with murder and related offenses, Burton is charged with abuse of corpse and tampering with evidence.

All their preliminary hearings are listed for February.

CLARIFICATION: This article has been updated to reflect that Darius Cheeseboro and the other unidentified victim were not beaten and tortured on the same day.
