Meanwhile, teams are experiencing issues with test result delays, but Phillies manager Joe Girardi expects some bumps in the road as baseball looks to get started during the pandemic.

“There are obviously some things that need to run smoother for this to have a better chance to work, yes, and am I surprised that there are some glitches? No,” Girardi said. 

Girardi was impressed with Nola’s first day of workouts, but says it is still too early to tell if he will start the season opener.​

The regular season gets underway for the Phillies on July 24 at 7:05 p.m. against the Marlins at Citizens Bank Park.
