PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Delaware man has been formally arraigned on three counts of homicide by vehicle in connection with a crash that killed two mummers and another person on Jan. 2.
Philadelphia police have charged 29-year-old Keith Campbell of Bear, Delaware, and his bail has been set at $1.75 million.
He also faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime, and reckless endangerment.
The bizarre, fatal crash happened around 1:45 a.m. Jan. 2 at the intersection of Seventh Street and Packer Avenue.
Dennis Palandro, 31; Joseph Ferry, 36; and Ferry's fiance, Kelly Wiseley, 35; were killed in the crash. Palandro and Ferry were members of the South Philadelphia String Band.
Campbell, the driver in the crash, was found by authorities on the scene with 15 to 20 self-inflicted stab wounds. Police also confirmed they found a letter inside the car, though its contents have not been disclosed with the public.
The exact circumstances leading up to the crash are still under investigation.
