Members of the Public Utility Commission appeared as state Senate budget hearings continue. Lehigh Valley Democrat Lisa Boscola, who lives in the PPL service area, brought up the issue of misleading robocalls she has been receiving.
"'We know that your PPL bill is higher than what it needs to be. We want to reduce your rate.’ Now, what that leads me to believe, just as a consumer, is that ‘ah, PPL is calling me and they want to reduce my rate.’ That is not what is happening at all," Boscola said.
In fact, Boscola says, it is alternative electric suppliers trying to manipulate people into making changes to their service they may not want. A member of the PUC said the commission is trying to be “increasingly vigilant” about energy suppliers who may be making false representations to consumers.
