DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — The Bucks County district attorney's office plans to seek the death penalty against the man accused of shooting and killing two men at a campground last fall.
Miles Jones, 41, is accused of shooting and killing 41-year-old Eric Braxton and 46-year-old Arthur Hill at the Homestead Campground near Quakertown.
He has pleaded not guilty to murder. His lawyer argues the shootings were in self defense.
Prosecutors say there are no elements of self-defense.
They point to the investigation, which finds, after a night of drinking, Jones got in a fight with his girlfriend. That turned physical as others tried to calm him down. After someone punched him in the face, he sat in a car for about 15 minutes.
Witnesses say he got out of the car, shot Braxton point blank in the chest as Braxton tried to calm him down, then shot Hill in the back.
Prosecutors say they'll seek the death penalty and also argue he put more than a dozen other people at risk.
