The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission put out this severe traffic warning, which runs through Wednesday.
Officials say this is a "high-intensity construction cycle," excavating, grading, paving and more to create some new transitional crossover lanes. All of this is part of the project to replace the Scudder Falls Bridge.
Because of the work, instead of three lanes, it's a single lane between Rte. 1 and the bridge. There could be backups at any time, but officials say they expect the worst to come between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
How bad could it get? Officials say traffic could get backed up for as long as two miles, maybe more, leading to delays of at least an hour.
Officials are encouraging people to change their commute times if possible. Or take the alternate, which is to take Route 1 through Trenton and the Trenton-Morrisville Bridge into Pennsylvania.
