MEDIA, Pa.(KYW Newsradio) — A Father's Day fishing excursion gave some local dads a chance to bond with the ones they love.

The pond full of fish at Linvilla Orchards gave Corey Dion the perfect opportunity to introduce his 3-year-old daughter Avery to one of his favorite past times.

"I wanted to come out and take my daughter with her "Frozen" fishing pole, teach her some fishing, get her into the hobby and see if I can get her to enjoy it and do it a little more down the line," Dion said.

Dan Woods from Manayunk brought his son Liam out to the pond to teach him how to fish, but Liam ended up out fishing his old man.

"It's a very peaceful place, only like a 20 minute drive for us and it's like we're out in the country and enjoying some nice fresh air. It's a great way to spend father's day morning and a great way for this little guy to teach me how to fish," Woods said.

Mike Rosenfield says his Father's Day fishing trip with his daughter Emma is one he will not soon forget.

"It's just a new tradition we're going to try starting. She just got into fishing, so we're going to start trying to do this a little more often," he said.

Many of the dads who came out say it's not about what they catch, it's about quality time with their kids.
