DELWARE COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — The Delaware County man accused of killing his dad and dumping the body near Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne will stand trial on murder charges after he waived his preliminary hearing.

Robert Coult III was silent as he entered district court in Lansdowne, and gave one word answers as he addressed the judge.

According to authorities, the 30-year-old confessed to killing his father in their Yeadon home. They say he told them his father, Robert Coult Jr., pushed him down the steps while they were arguing about money. He said he picked up a hammer and hit his father in the head, then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed him.

Authorities say he dragged his father’s body into the basement and tried to cut the body up. When he couldn’t do that, he changed his father out of the bloody clothes, put a clean T-shirt on him, buckled him into the front seat of a car and drove his body to Gladwyne, where he dumped it along Spring Mill Road near Philadelphia Country Club.

Coult is charged with first- and third-degree murder and abuse of a corpse.

He has a formal arraignment in Delaware County Court scheduled for Feb. 6.
