PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Division II Jefferson University men's basketball team continued a tremendous season Wednesday night with an 88-61 win over the University of the Sciences at the Gallagher Center.

The win was the 11th in a row for the Rams, who are ranked as high as No. 12 in the country, and it improved their record to 18-2 (11-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference).

The Rams roll with four seniors in their starting lineup, including point guard Kylan Guerra.

Guerra has been great throughout his career in East Falls, but his senior year has been special. In the win over Sciences, he poured in a career high 27 points, hitting seven of nine 3-point shots. For the season, the White Plains, New York native is averaging 15.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game while shooting 46% from the field and 41% from three.

He says he's having an awful lot of fun this season.

"Everything comes with winning and when you start your first 20 games 18-2, it's a great feeling," he told KYW Newsradio after Wednesday night's game. "I've been playing with these guys for a long time and it feels good. It feels like we've finally come together, the experience from last year is transitioning over to this year, we're winning games that in the past we've had trouble with. So it's a really good feeling. I really like where this team is going."

Guerra really makes the Rams go, and he draws high praise from a man who's opinion one could say is pretty important — his Hall of Fame head coach Herb Magee.

"He's a tremendous basketball player," Magee said. "Unselfish. He does everything that you ask him to do. He has a habit of making shots when we need them."

And Magee wants Guerra on the floor constantly.

Perhaps the most impressive number connected to Guerra is the fact that he averages more than 40 minutes a game.

How is that possible? Guerra has been on the bench a grand total of seven minutes this season (all coming at the end of blowout wins) and the Rams have played two overtime games. Guerra went the distance in both, which is 10 extra minutes of basketball, pushing his minutes per game to 40.1.

While there is still a lot of work to do, Guerra says he is very aware that the clock is ticking on his college basketball career.

"It's a crazy feeling that we have "x" number of games left and I only have a couple of games left on this floor," he said. "The seniors, we've talked about it, that this is our last go around and that we won a championship sophomore year, but that's not enough for all of us. We're very competitive people and we really want to go out with a bang."

Guerra and the Rams will look for a 12th straight win on Saturday when they visit Caldwell.
