PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Fairmount neighborhood is coming together for a dance party this Saturday, but they will be social distancing from the comfort of their own stoops.
Amidst this pandemic, Beth Stanley wanted to bring some joy to her block. So she's organizing a stoop dance party.
"We're gonna come out on our stoops with any type of music you want. My husband has an old fashioned boombox and a CD. Some people have headphones and playlists and we're going to just kind of enjoy ourselves," she said.
She came up with the idea of reaching out to her neighbors after signing up to be a COVID Captain on her block online last week through the city.
"They had a very extensive powerpoint that they went through with a lot of information in it and then they provided it to us so we could print it out and have it available to give to other people," she explained.
She said the goal is to reach out and share information about the virus, and Stanley said even though people can't be near each other, she thinks it has brought neighbors closer together.
