
Fauci told CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta that unless the players are in a “bubble” — separated from the community and tested almost daily — he said it would be difficult for America’s favorite sport to go on this season.
Fauci referenced a potential second wave of the coronavirus, which could be complicated by the flu season.
Obviously, a lack of football would upset many sports fans, especially in Philadelphia. Eagles games are a weekly experience, whether watching at home or at the Linc.
“Make no mistake, this is no easy task,” Sills said. “We will make adjustments as necessary to meet the public health environment as we prepare to play the 2020 season as scheduled with increased protocols and safety measures for all players, personnel and attendees. We will be flexible and adaptable in this environment to adjust to the virus as needed.”
The NFL, unlike the NBA and NHL, plans on holding a traditional schedule in its cities. Meanwhile, the NBA intends to resume its season in Orlando. The NHL hopes to do continue in two cities, which have yet to been announced.
Recently, Fauci spoke highly about the NBA’s restart plan, which will hopefully return to action in July.
