PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It has been just over three weeks since the Stanley Cup Playoffs were supposed to start, and the Flyers continue to wait to see if they can finish their season.
May is usually a busy month for the Stanley Cup playoffs, but arenas across North America remain quiet due to the coronavirus crisis. Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault said he is confident his players will be ready if the season resumes.
"I believe that if we get a good two weeks, we'll be fine. Everybody will be in the same position, will be out for the same amount of time," he said.
Whenever hockey returns, Vigneault believes the return of the game will help with the healing process when the crisis is finally over.
"Sports is going to be part of the process to getting back to some form of normalcy. I believe everybody's missing their sports right now," he added.
While Vigneault is hoping the season can resume and the Flyers can contend for the Stanley Cup, he emphasized safety remains the top priority.
