The earliest the Phillies would be able to play again is Sunday. Former Phils General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. says the team will have a tough road ahead if they can return.
"You need to continue to play and you need to have the reps to be able to be ready to play at that elite level, and it’s gonna be tough for them to do it."
The former Phillies exec said this next week will be a good litmus test.
"All the fans can hope is that these guys can come back and be ready when it’s time to ring the bell again," he said.
Amaro said he was impressed by the shape players were in after having several months off.
He said he did not think it was a good decision to play the Marlins, given the circumstances last Sunday, but he also believes it would have been difficult for Major League Baseball to adopt a “bubble-like environment” for this season, similar to the NBA and NHL.
