FORT WASHINGTON, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Germantown Academy is closed through Wednesday. Officials say a student is related to one of the four Montgomery County residents who has contracted the coronavirus.

After Wednesday, students will have class online until next Tuesday. After that, spring break begins. so it will be a few weeks before students are back on campus.

This means school activities, including SAT testing, are canceled or on hold.

"We were wondering, 'Oh, it's not a big deal.' And then, all of a sudden, it reaches our school. I don’t even know. It’s crazy," GA student Eyassu Tadesse said to NBC 10.

"We had a trip scheduled for Florida, and we have no clue what’s going on with that," another student said.

As Germantown Academy closes, several more schools in the region reopen on Monday. Students return to five Central Bucks schools that were closed on Friday. Officials say, out of an abundance of caution, Central Bucks South High School, Butler and Titus Elementary Schools, and Tamanend and Tohickon Middle Schools were closed for deep cleaning. Officials say several students and staffers were exposed to the Coronavirus when they were at a gathering attended by a Maryland resident, who was later confirmed to have the virus.

Bucks County officials say the students and staff members tested negative.
