PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Funds from federal economic stimulus are slowly rolling into the bank accounts of Americans unemployed because of the coronavirus pandemic. If you are receiving checks from the state, you will get an extra $600 a week in the bank.

Anyone who files for unemployment in Pennsylvania usually gets from 50% to 75% of what they were earning when they were working. In New Jersey it's a little more.

So to help Americans make ends meet during the quarantine, lawmakers kicked in the extra $600.

Susan Dickinson, policy director for Pennsylvania's unemployment office,  says there is nothing more to do for anyone claiming an unemployment check.

"Claimants will automatically get these payments when they file for unemployment from April 4 through July 25,"she said.

"And when we have our other federal programs up and running, we will go back and make sure people will," Dickinson said.

If you have direct deposit, the $600 will pop up in your bank, likely a few days after your unemployment deposit. And for U.S. Mail, you will likely get the checks a few days apart.
