The Kaitlin Murphy Foundation is donating $3,000 to Advocates for the Homeless and Those in Need to fund the rides.
AHTN’s Karen Mineo says it’s a roundtrip of about 70 miles.
“Transportation in the county is difficult. So those who wouldn’t normally be able to get a ride, get a ride using our vehicle and our volunteers so they can adhere to the schedule they need to be on," Mineo said.
The Kaitlin Murphy Foundation is named for organization president Annemarie Murphy's sister-in-law, who died of an overdose in 2012. She says Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub linked them up with AHTN, and she says the request was right in their wheelhouse.
“This is what we do. We fundraise so we’re able to give grants at a moment’s notice to help our community and to help those struggling with addiction," Murphy said.
