#MakeItMontco designed to stimulate travel, tourism in Montgomery County

VALLEY FORGE (KYW Newsradio) — With recent surveys showing people want to stay closer to home for summer vacations, a Montgomery County tourism group is rolling out the welcome mat.

Lisa Karl, a vice president for the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board, said the organization partnered with dozens of hotels in Montgomery County to come up with a getaway package.

She said it can be accessed by downloading the group’s Visit Valley Forge mobile app and selecting the place you want to stay.

“Upon your arrival to the hotel, you’ll receive a welcome card with a secret password,” Karl explained. “And that password just needs to be typed into the mobile app and you’ll receive access to over $300 worth of savings to restaurants, attractions and other services throughout Montgomery County."

Karl said the road to COVID-19 recovery starts with the leisure traveler and that’s exactly who the #MakeItMontco hotel package is targeting.

“From our malls, to the Elmwood Park Zoo, as well as Legoland and all of our restaurants they are really ramping up to welcome back all you travelers and tourists that want to experience a nice escape right here in their very own backyard here in Montgomery County,” Karl said.

Karl said the weekend or weeklong getaway is designed to appeal to county residents as well as those say in Philadelphia.

“We welcome folks to come out and get out of the city and do something different and enjoy the countryside, enjoy the outdoors and all the activities,” Karl said.

She said if you’ve got kids, bring them along because there’s lots for them to do and see, too.
