It took the jury about an hour and a half to come back with a guilty verdict on all charges against Bobbie Mitchell, including first-degree murder. Prosecutor Samantha Cauffman said there was no doubt the deadly shooting of Siani Overby, around 2 a.m. on April 1, 2018, was a premeditated murder, based on an audio recording they got from a nearby home surveillance camera.
"It was a flat-out execution," said Cauffman. "She was screaming and begging for her life, and it took 45 seconds for him to administer those three shots."
The final shot was point-blank to the back of her head. Mitchell’s cellphone was found by her body — one of several pieces of evidence Cauffman said led to the conviction.
"There wasn’t one piece of evidence that was the smoking gun in this case," she added. "It was everything put together."
Cauffman argued Overby was threatening to tell police Mitchell was a drug dealer, so he killed her.
First-degree murder carries a mandatory life sentence, so the judge immediately sent him to prison.
Mitchell declined to give a statement.
