Police in Delco arrest man who allegedly fired on officer

CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Police in Delaware County arrested a man they said shot at an officer who was on patrol early Sunday morning.

It was shortly before 1 a.m. when Dimitrius Joel Barriara-Rivera shot at a Chester Township police officer, near the Commodore Barry Bridge, according to township police.

They reported Barriara-Rivera, who was driving a 2007 Toyota Scion, fired approximately three rounds in the direction of officer's marked car.

Barriara-Rivera drove away from the scene, but was later arrested in the city of Chester, according to officials who say he confessed to the shooting.

Police say nobody was hurt in the shooting, but the investigation is ongoing.
