“Right now, traveling to those states, you’re taking a bit of a risk because the prevalence is so much higher,” Damsker said.
Damsker says try to postpone any travel to states seeing spikes in cases and if you have to go, be extra cautious.
“Continue to wear your mask, sanitize, don’t go to bars, don’t go to any kind of large gatherings and keep yourself as safe as possible,” he advised.
Damsker says he doesn’t see a need for a widespread quarantine from certain states. Instead, he says, if people follow a “modified quarantine” after traveling, they should be fine.
“Don’t go visit your elderly parents the first several days you’re back. Wear a mask all the time, as much as possible, continue to sanitize, take extra symptom and temperature checks, and make sure you’re feeling well before you leave your home,” he said.
Damsker says a silver lining is that the vast majority of the recent cases in Bucks County and the new cases across the country are in younger people with mostly mild symptoms.
But, he says, as people get used to universal masking and the normal precautions, we can get back to more activities, understanding there are going to be a baseline of new cases, but he says that’s no reason to panic.
