PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — More than a dozen middle schoolers were treated by medics Friday morning after they ate desserts reportedly laced with marijuana.

According to Philadelphia police, a student brought pot-laced puffed rice treats to West Oak Lane Charter School on Stenton Avenue and gave them to at least 15 other students.

Other students found out about the edibles and told school officials, who then notified police and parents.

Authorities were called to the school around 9:30 a.m. The students were evaluated on site and are expected to be OK.

"It is an unfortunate incident situation, where several middle school students were reported for ingesting marijuana," said school CEO Dr. Debbera Lee. "Their parents have been contacted to come to the school. The police were contacted to do an investigation of the incident."

The investigation is ongoing.
