About 4 a.m., crews converged at the Coopers Creek Chemical Corporation on River Road to fight a fire that started in a shed or boiler room and spread to a 10,000-gallon fuel tank.
"The tank was not full, had about 1,000 gallons in it. It didn’t burn off, but it did catch fire and was extinguished by the firefighters," said Blaine Leis, the Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator of Upper Merion.
Leis says firefighters took care of business quickly, and no one was hurt.
In the aftermath, he says the public is safe, air quality is good, and there is no runoff.
River Road reopened after about three hours.
