Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh said county parks will start opening this week with Norristown Farm Park, followed by Green Lane Park next week.
“Hopefully on June 15 you will be able to fish there, but again please, please make sure you practice social distancing while you are there,” Arkoosh said.
She said there are arrangements being made for the boat launch.
Most indoor buildings and pavilions will remain closed at county parks, and Arkoosh said there will be a carry-in, carry-out policy, meaning people should plan to take any trash with them rather than throwing it out at the park.
Arkoosh said they have given the OK for the Bucks County and Southeastern PA Youth Baseball and Softball Coalition to resume practicing, but there will be no games.
As summer camps are allowed no- or low-contact sports, officials wanted to try to be as consistent as possible.
“So we are willing to evaluate plans and give you thoughts and guidance and then we can go from there,” Arkoosh said.
Any organizations who want to submit a plan should email Pam Lawn at email@example.com.
The county is doing about 50 contact tracings per day, and Arkoosh said there is a plan in place in case of any outbreaks or hotspots.
