PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Border agents thwarted a huge 600-pound shipment of marijuana from Puerto Rico from reaching its New Jersey destination last week.

The shipping container was filled mostly with rice, but drug-sniffing dogs found 252 marijuana bricks tucked underneath, weighing in at approximately 614 pounds.

Agents from Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized the weed at a Philadelphia port on March 7, which was destined for an address in North Jersey.

Now all the leaves, with a street value of $2.5 million, will be destroyed.

CBP officials say it's one of the biggest marijuana busts they have had.
