"We want to acknowledge people everywhere and we want to shine a light on people's effort and thank them,” said executive director Jane Golden.
As part of the ExtraOrdinary Figures Project, the group is putting the call out for nominations of people making a difference during the pandemic.
"It could be your neighbor, it could be someone in a social service agency, a doctor, a nurse, it doesn't matter,” she said.
Mural Arts will select as many of these extraordinary figures as possible and match the individuals with artists.
"The artist will be creating a small but really beautiful portrait of this person and there will be an online gallery on our website,” Golden explained.
Once the pandemic subsides, Golden said they'll paint all the faces on a wall to create a mural.
As for where that mural will be, they're open to suggestions.
"We're wall hunters, but we are always looking for a good tip,” she added.
The deadline for nominations is May 22.
