A new way for Philly artists to find resources and tools, share artwork amid pandemic

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) Help is just one click of the mouse away for Philadelphia artists struggling in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic now that the city has a resource dedicated to streamlining information for those individuals in need.

Philadelphia artists and arts programs are expected to lose $35 million between the middle of March and the end of April, according to the city's chief cultural officer Kelly Lee.

Lee said they've dedicated part of their creative.org site to helping the art community.

“There are about 60 other resources for artists and art organizations to find some sort of relief,” she said.

She said none of these individual resources is a fix for all, but they can go a long way for those who have lost income and work.

“What we're hoping is that our artists and art organizations can look to the resources, and start to piece together enough revenue just to sort of stay afloat until we can focus on recovery,” she said.

Lee said in addition to connecting the artists with tools and resources, they are also providing them a platform to share their art with the masses, something she hopes will get the public excited until they can once again enjoy the arts in person.
