NJ school sports agency releases plan for fall, winter sports

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The agency that governs high school sports in New Jersey has issued its plan for the fall.Outdoor sports such as football, soccer and field hockey will start practices in mid-September, and actual games will begin in October. Traditional Thanksgiving football games may be held at the discretion of schools.Practices for indoor sports such as gymnastics and volleyball are being moved to mid-February, and games will be moved to March and April.

There is no decision at this point on the fate of sports next spring.The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association, in a note to schools across the state, said the schedule could change based on orders from Gov. Phil Murphy or guidance from state health officials.
