PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia Police are investigating a pair of shootings that happened overnight Monday within hours of each other and just a few miles apart. Both victims were left fighting for their lives.
Police say the first shooting happend around 10:30 p.m. at B and East Loudon streets in Feltonville. Chief Inspector Scott Small says someone opened fire on an 18-year-old on a motorized scooter.
"Striking him in the head, causing him to lose control and crash into a parked vehicle," he said.
The victim was rushed to an area hospital, where he was placed on life support. Small says investigators want to talk to a man who witnesses spotted running from the area.
Then around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to Broad Street and Germantown Avenue, where they found bullet holes in a Chinese Restaurant, a Free Library branch, and a parked car — but there was no victim.
Small says that's because a good Samaritan drove the 24-year-old victim to the hospital in a U-Haul vehicle.
The victim is in extremely critical condition. Small says investigators believe the victim was involved in a fight with three other men who ran off after the victim was shot multiple times.
