PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Federal customs agents in Philadelphia have intercepted boxes of bogus Juul products sent from an address in China.

More than 1,150 counterfeit e-cigarette Juul pods and three chargers were discovered inside a parcel that was being sent to an address in Newark, Delaware.

The Customs and Border Protection officers say the suspicious parcel was labeled "plastic pipe sample."

Agents opened it and found 36 cartons of Juul pods. Each carton contains 8 packs of four pods each.

Inspectors contacted the Juul trademark holder to verify the authenticity of the merchandise and learned the pods were counterfeit.

An investigation is continuing.
