Philadelphia Catholic high school graduation ceremonies will be virtual

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio)  With a month to go until high school graduations, the Philadelphia Archdiocese has made a decision on what those are going to look like.

"We are in the red zone which is still a stay-at-home requirement. And, so we did not want our students' graduation day to pass without them being honored, working within the guidelines of the governor,” she said.

McDermott said videographers are working with each school’s administrators on presentation of the virtual graduation ceremonies. She said there may also be very limited participation of some students, such as the valedictorian and salutatorian.

McDermott said Archbishop Nelson Perez will deliver a virtual message.

And senior portraits of all the graduates will be featured at each school’s virtual event.
