PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- Thousands came out to Eakins Oval on Saturday to celebrate a colorful chariot festival, where there was food, yoga, music and colorful clothing for sale. The ancient message of the event was simple but profound.
Philadelphia Rathayatra Street Festival organizer Sita Devi Dasi says this annual celebration takes about seven months of preparation.
"There are three, almost like three chariots, and everybody is pulling these chariots and pulling the Lord (Jagannatha) on these chariots," Mahajan explained. "It's almost like a rainbow, so there's blue and green and yellow and orange and red!"
