Police arrest 17-year-old for sexual assault, shooting in Overbrook apartment

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police say they have arrested a teenager in connection with a rape and shooting inside an Overbrook apartment earlier this month.

Authorities arrested 17-year-old Earl Davis, who they say broke into the basement bedroom of two women — located along Brockton Road off of Haverford Avenue — in the early-morning hours of May 17.

Police say the teen sexually assaulted a 21-year-old, whose screams woke up a 23-year-old woman in the apartment. According to authorities, Davis shot the 23-year-old in the stomach, then fled.

Surveillance videos captured a suspect breaking into cars in the neighborhood, and police say they used it to identify their rape suspect.
