It only took 10 minutes for the pair to smash the windows of SUVs in the lots of Elkins Chevrolet in Marlton, grab the wheel lock keys from the glove boxes, and unbolt the wheels.
"It appeared that they targeted these custom black chrome finish rims that were 22 inches. And they took 12 of them."
Evesham Township Police Lt. Joseph Friel says the wheels are valued at $5,000 but the dealership lost more than that.
"The Elkins Chevrolet business took a higher loss than that when you add in the damage to the vehicles that they took these tires off. They just let these vehicles drop down to the concrete. So there is damage to each vehicle," Friel said.
Friel says the men loaded the wheels into an older-model minivan — either a Honda Odyssey or Dodge Grand Caravan. The theft happened around 10 p.m. on Sept. 7. Anyone who recognizes the men on surveillance video — or who knows someone trying to sell black chrome rims — is asked to contact police at 856-983-4699.
