PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are searching for a man who hit a car and a bicyclist with a stolen vehicle and ran away.
Cars are zipping by at F Street and Roosevelt Boulevard Friday morning at the site of the hit-and-run accident. Debris still litters the outer northbound lanes of the boulevard, and a mangled bicycle sits in the median.
Around 10 p.m. Thursday, police say a man driving a stolen Jeep Compass hit the BMW, which hit the bicyclist in a chain reaction. The driver of the Jeep then jumped out and took off running into the neighborhood.
"I was laying down. All of a sudden I hear screeches and bangs. And I thought I heard a boom, maybe somebody fell to the ground," she said. "These people go extremely too fast they don't look. And right here, they just turn right away they don't care what color the light is."
Neighbors say they're not surprised, and crashes happen there way too often.
"I've been here two years. In the past two years, it's about the tenth accident," said one man who lives near the site.
The search is on for the driver of the stolen Jeep in Northeast Philadelphia.
