PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia Police say they are still working to determine exactly what happened after a "violent confrontation" left a man stabbed to death in Center City.
According to authorities, the incident took place at about 6:30 a.m. on a Broad Street Line concourse, at Broad and Spruce streets.
Homicide Unit Captain Jason Smith gave an update on the case at Philadelphia Police Headquarters, and says that the confrontation was not only caught on videotape, but says the footage "wasn't pretty."
While this investigation is still ongoing, the incident began when the victim, a 30-year-old man, and a second unidentified man got into a fight.
According to police, officers found the suspect, who has yet to be formally charged, at the nearby Hub of Hope engagement center for shelter placement and treatment.

SEPTA says there was no impact on Broad Street Line service. And the Spruce Street entrance reopened after a few hours.
This is the first full day of a SEPTA Transit Police strike, which has reduced patrols in the transit system. Transit Police supervisors are filling in were patrolling the concourses, and responded to the incident.
