PPA revenues continue to be way down, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but they’ve exceeded projections since the city has started to reopen. Officials say they’re trending in the right direction.
At Tuesday’s board meeting, PPA Executive Director Scott Petri said all this made the decision to raise garage rates tricky, but the staff surveyed what private garages were doing, and they decided on a relatively modest increase of $1 for in-and-out parking and about $5 for monthly customers.
“The goal of the staff was effectively to offset the parking tax that became effective July 1,” Petri added.
The board also approved accepting bids for a pilot project that would make sense of some of the confusing parking signage on city streets.
On top of that, the PPA received the Organization of the Year Award from the International Parking and Mobility Institute. Institute officials said it reflects the vast improvements the PPA has made in the last two years.
