Wolf has gone around the state promoting his plan to borrow $4.5 billion for infrastructure and finance it with revenues from a tax on natural gas extraction. It's the governor’s latest proposal to tax natural gas drillers.
Republican Pat Browne, the Senate Appropriations Committee chairman who discussed the proposal at a Main Line Chamber of Commerce meeting, says GOP leaders share the concerns about infrastructure improvements.

But he says the governor has to be open to different ways to fund them.
“If this, for him, is just about a severance tax and that’s it – if the purpose is just getting that tax – it’s not going to get done. Because the goal of this to fund important infrastructure. We can agree there and we can work that out," Browne said.
But for now, at least, the Senate majority leader says Restore Pennsylvania won’t be considered before the legislature’s summer recess.
