Ezra Weah, known in the music industry as Bankroll Gambino, was sitting on the porch of a home on Caroll Street around 8 p.m. when two men got out of a black car and began firing at the group, says Philadelphia homicide Capt. Jason Smith.
"All of our shooting victims were involved in the production of this rap video," Smith said.
He says five other men, all ranging from ages 21 to 24, were also shot.
"I believe one is still listed as critical," Smith added.
Police believe Weah was targeted earlier that day around 4 a.m. near 53rd Street and Baltimore Avenue. They say someone shot at his car at least three times and believe they could be linked.
"A continuance of the initial violence," Smith said.
Detectives are now pulling video in the area and trying to speak with witnesses.
"Cooperation is lacking," Smith said, urging anyone with any tips to give them a call even if it's anonymous.
