MIDDLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — For the next six months, one of the routes to get to the Wildwoods will be partially closed, but there are still a lot of ways to get there.

Most drivers hit the Atlantic City Expressway to the Garden State Parkway. For those who want to avoid tolls, there's always the stalwart Route 47. It takes longer, but it's free.

And there's one more problem, according to Steve Schapiro with the New Jersey Department of Transportation: "It's emergency work to repair a culvert that carries Dias Creek underneath Route 47."

Pipes that run under the roadway are damaged, he says.

Schapiro says getting the work done now will spare summer Shore drivers a great deal of pain. The project is expected to be complete by late June.
