The two-time Sixers All-Star was able to reach that level in the NBA in only three seasons, despite passing up opportunities to shoot. The sky is truly the limit if jumpers become a regular part of his already-versatile skill set.
A topic of discussion for years, it resurfaced this week after recent footage of his jump shot hit the Internet.
“His three-point shot is looking good. He shot more threes in practice the last few days than he might’ve for almost half a season," Brown said.
Brown has been using Simmons off the ball more in practice, and not exclusively at point guard. The All-Star is taking everything in stride, and the head coach notices him scoring in many different ways.
“I think just because of the variety of ways that we’re trying to use him helps in some capacity, and I think maybe most helpful is his mentality. He’s coming down here with just a tremendous spirit.”
And just in case you're skeptical of Brown's praise, Shake Milton confirmed that Simmons is shooting more in recent workouts at Disney World.
“I mean, yeah, he’s taking shots, and he’s knocking them down," Milton said.
Brown was complimentary about more than Simmons' jump shot on Thursday. According to the head coach, Simmons and fellow All-Star Joel Embiid have been in sync, with Simmons being in a more interior position than the primary ball handler.
“And I felt like, just, the partnership, the relationship, the big-big mentality finding each other was crazily obvious — something that caught me off guard, when you haven’t played basketball in four months," Brown said.
