PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The 76ers are on the Feb 25 cover of Sports Illustrated. The issue features a "re-preview" of the Eastern Conference following some changes among the top teams since the Feb. 6 NBA trade deadline.

The trade that netted the Sixers small forward Tobias Harris created a starting five so talented, they say opposing teams will have to completely rethink their approach.

It's been about 11 years since the magazine had the Sixers on the cover.

This time, Harris, JJ Redick, Joel Embiid, Jimmy Butler and Ben Simmons are in the cover shot. Harris is the only one smiling.

His teammates may be thinking of the dreaded "Sports Illustrated Cover Jinx."

Through the years, a startling number of teams and athletes featured on the magazine's cover have immediately afterward suffered an injury or calamity of some kind.

For example, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Jack Lambert was on the July 30, 1984, cover, and he missed most of that season with an injury.

The July 22, 2013, cover, featured Jason Grilli, the first Pittsburgh Pirate to be there in more than 20 years. Then he strained his right forearm and was placed on the disabled list.

Right after Eagles quarterback Nick Foles graced the front of the Dec. 15, 2013, issue, the Birds ended a five-game winning streak.

It's not always bad, though. Foles made the cover again in January of last year, and he of course led the Eagles to their first-ever Super Bowl over the New England Patriots.

The 76ers have a checkered history in recent years, but the acquisitions of Butler and Harris have fans thinking they might have the most talented team in the East. It's as good a time as any to trust The Process.
