The Soul got back to .500 at 3-3 last weekend with a 47-35 home win over Columbus. Soul forced three turnovers while not turning it over themselves.
"Actually played really well in all three phases," Soul head coach Clint Dolezel said. "Special teams did well, too, pinned them deep, which is a big deal in this game is to try and pin the other team deep, limits their playbook on special teams if we can get that guy tackled inside the 10-yard line."
Soul quarterback Dan Raudabaugh threw for 222 yards and six touchdowns. One of his favorite targets was rookie wide receiver BJ Bunn, who had a break out game for the Soul, finishing with five receptions for 91 yards and two scores.
"BJ stepped up," Dolezel said. "He's really been here through camp, so he knows every position at the receiver position. He was able to show what he was able to do. His YAC [yards after catch] are as good as there are in the league, and he showed that the other night."
Washington is also 3-3 this season. These two teams met in D.C. on May 18, Washington picking up a 53-46 win, scoring the winning touchdown with just six seconds left in the game. Valor quarterback Arvell Nelson gave the Soul fits in that one, throwing for 302 yards and five scores while also rushing for 29 yards and two additional touchdowns.
"We've got to keep Arvell in the pocket, that's the biggest thing," Dolezel said. "Always concerned when you're playing him. He extends plays with his legs, third and fourth downs are really crucial to make sure he doesn't extend the drives with his legs. Keeping him in the pocket is first and foremost and getting some good pressure on him."
Sunday's game gets underway at 4 p.m.
