The latest loss for the Soul came this past Sunday, as they fell to the Brigade in Baltimore, 45-30. At 2-3, the Soul are under .500 for the first time since the 2014 season.
"It's just a matter of making some plays when they are put in front of us, at all positions, to be honest with you," Soul head coach Clint Dolezel said. "We dropped, I think, five passes [against Baltimore]. We missed eight tackles. We dropped a couple of picks on defense. And the next thing you know, you're in a battle."
It has been a struggle for Columbus this season, as they are the only winless team in the Arena Football League, at 0-5. They really let one slip away last time out, though, losing to Washington at home, 29-27. The Destroyers led by six with under a minute left, but took a safety and then allowed a touchdown with no time left to lose the game.
Dolezel says Columbus will be a formidable opponent.
"They have one of the best defenses honestly in the league," he said. "[Varmah] Sonie, the safety, is playing at a high level. Him and [Soul DB James] Romain I feel like are the best two cover guys in the league. He's playing really well. Their pass rush is probably top-two in the league."
Saturday night's game kicks off at 7 p.m. at the Center.
