PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Philadelphia mom who fought and beat coronavirus celebrated a special Mother's Day with her family, who also tested positive for the virus.
It was a Thursday in late March when Tynisha Campbell started to feel ill. As she went down her checklist, it became clear to her she had a lot of symptoms related to COVID-19.
"I had a fever. I was very tired. I had chills, night sweats," she described.
Campbell, who works in a health care facility, said prior to her getting sick, one of her co-workers came down with the virus.
By that weekend, her husband and son began to experience symptoms as well.
She said watching her child go through the pains of the coronavirus, and being totally helpless against it, is one of the worst feelings she's ever had as a mother.
"I was so scared," she expressed. "I was very fearful that the worst was going to happen."
Everyone in her house eventually recovered from their illnesses, but Campbell said the experience was an eye opener for her.
"I feel inspired to take advantage of this second chance I've been given," she said. "Spending more time with my family is what I plan on doing."
Campbell spent part of her Mother's Day enjoying a dinner courtesy of her son and husband, and calling other mothers, while she remains in quarantine.
"On Mother's Day, I feel extremely blessed, and grateful to God for bringing me and my family through this virus, and I mourn for everybody who has lost their loved ones," she said.
