“There were other states who were looking at doing virtual events and when the decision was made to cancel, it just seemed like the next logical step,” Amaturo said.
The virtual events will consist of sports such as golf, tennis and basketball, and Amaturo says the events will be designed for the athletes to do more with less from the comforts of home.
“We created two to three activities for each of the sports that we typically offer at our summer games and there are things that athletes can do from the comforts of their own homes with little to no equipment,” she explained.
The games can be seen on the Special Olympics Pennsylvania YouTube and Facebook pages.
