Meanwhile at an invitation-only "Conversation with Don McGahn" at Stockton University in Galloway Township on Thursday, impeachment was never mentioned.
The event hosted by the university's William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy.
McGahn talked about when he was council to Trump's 2016 campaign for president.
"At that point, people thought, 'Why are you bothering with Trump? Why aren't you doing one of the more regular candidates?' And I said, 'Because I don't think think one of the regular candidates has a chance of beating Hillary Clinton, but I think Donald Trump does.' And people thought I was cuckoo."
McGahn said more about what it was like to work as White House general council and said he stepped down because he felt he did all that he could do.
"And it was time to go back and get reacquainted with things like sunlight and things like that," he said.
There were signs outside the venue saying protesters were not permitted past a certain point, but the conversation went on without any protest.
