CAMDEN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Camden Mayor Frank Moran visited an apartment building in the city damaged during the severe storm that passed through the area overnight and early Monday. "Just to reassure the residents that we’ll be looking out for them," he said.
Twenty Camden families were forced out of the All American Garden Apartments on 8th Street and Chelton Avenue in Camden when severe weather rolled through and high winds ripped part of the roof off.

April 15, 2019 Firuan Moore lives in the building.
"Probably like 2, 3 o’clock in the morning, you heard a loud crash," Moore said. "I didn’t think nothing of it. You heard another crash. The next thing you know, everybody was knocking, and people coming out saying their roof was coming in."
Joe Caruso, who owns the building, said the storm's powerful winds "ripped the whole center section of the roof off. We have downed electrical wires. The inside of the units, the ceilings collapsed from the water pouring through."

April 15, 2019 Initially, no one reported as hurt. But hours later, a woman was taken to the hospital.
Camden Fire Chief Michael Harper says debris hit her in the head. Even though she said she felt fine, her family conviced her to go to get checked.
Moran talked to the residents and got a close look at what the storm left behind.
"There’s substantial water damage," said the mayor. "A lot of the second floor units, the ceilings collapsed."
Many of those forced out are either with relatives or getting help from the Red Cross.
