PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission has decided to close its two thrift stores at the end of the month.

The stores - one on Rising Sun Avenue in the Burlholme section of Northeast Philadelphia, and the other in Penndel, are engaged in liquidation sales right now.

Rev. Jeremy Montgomery is president and CEO of the mission.

"Though they generated revenue for us, the reality is, in recent years we weren't generating profits to support and sustain our organization," he said.

Montgomery says the organization had to make critical decisions to stabilize its finances.

He says they'll shut the doors for the last time at each location on Jan. 31.
