MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A Montgomery County investigator with the detectives unit and her K-9 therapy dog get recognition for their work with victims and witnesses in the court system.

Turks, a Red Fox Labrador and her partner and handler Kiersten McDonald, an investigator with the Montgomery County Detectives Bureau received the Public Service Award To Citizens by the Montgomery Bar Association.

Turks is a comfort dog and often sits on a victims feet, many of whom are children, or raises her paw to let them know they're not alone while going through the legal system.

"She can sense stress. We have gone into, true story, we have gone into, there will be police officers, prosecutors, advocates, and I will never tell her who the victim is she will always end up at their feet. Always," McDonald said.

McDonald received a plaque, and Turks got a customized water bowl and a canister of treats.
